My Exit Strategy

Exit Strategy

My exit strategy is to stick to the business venture for several decades until I feel like I’m ready to retire or move on to an easier project.

I’ve decided on this exit strategy because throughout the course of developing this venture and a better understanding of what entails to bring an idea to life, I have realized that it’s very difficult to build a business from the ground up. Of course no one said it would be easy, but there is a lot more work, research, and roadblocks that pop up for the entrepreneur. Experiencing some of these circumstances, I feel more at ease sticking with my business venture and developing it rather than selling my portion to find and build another one from the beginning.

I believe my exit strategy has influenced my decisions to be more personal. If I were to look at this venture with the mentality of selling it in 5 years, I wouldn’t stress over the small stuff as much. I would make a quick choice and move on to the next situation. Making these decisions more personal instead has allowed me to put my own touch within the framework and concepts of the venture. I see it fit to what I like and have given myself the opportunity to grow from these decisions in the future. It has also helped me view other potential opportunities with a long-term mindset. I don’t look at viable opportunities and think I can sell it in a few years; I see them with the intentions to help them grow and build a strong foundation for their future growth.

  1. Sergio,
I agree that since you have decided to stick with your business long term rather than sell in 5 years or so, you tend to make more purposeful and personal decisions. These will affect the longevity of your business. I can see where if you were selling in five years you would make well thought out decisions, but the need to make decisions that really effect the long term of the business would not necessarily be your primary concern. However, you would want the business thriving at the five year point as to reap the most from the business. Having your personal touch imbedded throughout all aspects of the company will be key to its success. Your vision and hard work will be the keys to your prosperity. Best wishes on your venture, and enjoy the rest of your summer! It's been a pleasure being on this journey with you.
