Swerk Out

Swerk Out

I’ve used this portmanteau “swerk out” as a means of motivation when I’m trying to get other friends to work out at the gym or go do some stadiums, anything to get up and get them moving around to stay fit. It’s a combination of sweat, workout, and also twerk believe it or not.

I’ve only had one of my workout buddies use it towards me when I was a little hesitant to head to the gym. Almost everyone else that has heard me say it hasn’t given me any negative feedback. I’ve noticed that using this term persistently when someone is giving me excuses or doesn’t want to be active at that specific time in fact pushes a little harder to make it happen. I’m still being persistent with the use of this word to see if it catches on but I haven’t really had any major negative or positive feedback; I’m positive that soon enough it will catch on and who knows, maybe they’ll be on fitness shirts somewhere down the line.

Halfway Reflection

Over the past two months I’ve had to develop a new way of thinking in order to get the best out of this class. This course requires you to think outside of the box for every assignment. Thinking outside of the box for opportunities that not many other individuals could see; opportunities or unmet needs that we as aspiring entrepreneurs could take advantage of and try to satisfy the unmet need.

There were a few assignments that I had decided to put off till the last minute, such a great idea of me, but anyway, coming down to the last few hours before having to submit the assignment I would find myself at road blocks in my thought process. This definitely helped improve my ability to think outside the box under pressure. This method of thinking allowed me to see the options within the assignment to finally see the finished product in time.

I believe future students should read and keep in mind the assignments days before they’re due in order to properly think of different opportunities through the days leading up to the assignment. Keeping an open mind to these opportunities while you go on about your regular day to day can help you see the unmet need through different views and help you come up with different ideas. Research the readings that are given at the beginning of the course about the different entrepreneurs in the world. This gives you insight on the entrepreneur before reading their biography and by researching them, you can get a feel for the tenacity that they have developed over their careers and possibly relate it to yours. Lastly, thinking outside the box with regards to your everyday life helps build the tenacity you need to pursue every assignment in this class. This mindset should be implicated whenever you see the opportunity. Every time you are presented with a problem or see the possibility for different solutions to a problem, this mindset will allow you to build on the tenacity over and over again.

Need Awareness and Information Search- Buyer Behavior 1

The segment I chose to focus on were college students that are currently living with roommates. Not in the search for some or living in fraternity or sorority houses.

Throughout the interviews, I discovered that almost everyone has a fear to move in with random roommates, therefore making this unmet need of a roommate matching service even more worthy. Thankfully all of my interviews showed they had time to search for a roommate or roommates and didn’t really have to rush into a situation where they moved in with someone that had nothing in common. With regards to when they started searching, there really wasn’t any specific time recorded. Mainly they started to look near the end of beginning of the year. When asked about using search engines or what they might have typed, I only recorded one person using a search engine and mainly focused on apartments rather than roommates. Another possible alley for this business concept was implementing this sort of roommate search service through apartments and universities. Apartments could use this service to have a better tenant service and universities could use it to better room up the incoming students who take place in the dorms with other new students. This segment definitely shows need awareness; they have thought processes before any decision is made, they’re not “impulse” decisions. This segment consistently tries to have their need met by word of mouth more than anything else; focusing on this method will help increase the development of this business concept. Google and other search engines won’t have a huge impact unless it becomes a last resort.
